Vision :To be the initiator and implementer of the radical change in employment scenario in the country by working in accordance with the MDGs, and mobilizing and involving youth.

Background :Youth unemployment in Burundi is extremely high. More than 60% of the uneducated youth are jobless, and 50% of educated youth are unemployed. Young graduates are desperate and are looking for menial jobs at low salaries. Burundi is a country which post war has no hopes as it does not have experience or the vision about livelihoods generation for the youth.

About the Network : YES-BURUNDI is registered as an NGO. Our dream is to bring together youth led organizations in order to fight poverty, and restore peace together. The Network has 4 members who are devoted and ambitious to see change in Burundi. We are still based in Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi, but we also have a plan to reach out to the rural areas through our projects which aim at rural development

Current Major Initiatives:

• YES-Burundi is trying to sensitize youth organizations, Government and NGOs to the need of Youth to be involved in the decision making in mattes related to development, policy making, gender issues etc.
• Bringing an improvement in the employment of the youth in sectors like Agriculture, Education and Ecotourism through entrepreneurship development.

Key Accomplishments :

• Organized Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2008.
• Lobbied to Government and other NGOs for employment generation
