Vision : To be an inspiring organization leading the youth towards economic freedom through
unleashing of green employment opportunities and entrepreneurship generation.
Background : Liberia has several natural resources, including diamonds. The UN is a great
supporter of Liberia and has been helping the country remain stable. Over 50% of the
population is youth and thus Liberia is a country that can benefit greatly from empowering its
youth. Donor organizations are giving basic support for infrastructure development focusing on
improving health, education, and transportation or by creating a more stable economic
environment.
About the Network : Liberia has a perfect collaboration with the Ministries of Youth and Sports
and Ministry of Labor. About two hundred and fifty youth have benefited from YES Liberia
entrepreneurship training sessions through the Ministry of Youth and Sports. YES Liberia is very
proactive in the business education of youth and has provided many career exploratory
opportunities to the Liberian youth.
Current Major Initiatives:
- Social Entrepreneurship Training program with 200 students and trainees of the
vocational training centers of the ministry
- Career Awareness Dialogue Forum Exposing students and other youth to the many
careers and their advantages in the society.
- Sessions on Awareness on Business Entrepreneurship in 4 communities
- YES Liberia is presently a facilitator on Social and Business Entrepreneurship training
that is being implemented by Taking IT Global (TIG) in Liberia through a youth
organization called African Child Peace Initiative
Key Accomplishments :
- In the recent past, YES Liberia has focused on career exploratory and entrepreneurship
programming. With no basic infrastructure in the country, it has been hard, if not
impossible to focus on more vocational training including internships, shadowing, etc.
- YES Liberia has been a great youth employment community leading, launching and
facilitating focus groups (Youth Employment Strategies Working Group and Connecting
Local Communities of West Africa) among other NGOs and people concerned with
youth employment.
