Vision : Contribute towards the generation of sustainable business entrepreneurship and employment generation

Background : Mexico has an unemployed rate of 4.9% as per the data of 2008. Around 44 millions of young people are part of the economic active population, and it is estimated that by 2020 it could increase to 64 millions. Therefore Mexico represents the highest number of youth workers in the YES countries in Latin America. About 41.4% of the Mexican young people between the age of 15 and 24 years are without job.

About the Network : Fundacion E , YES Mexico host agency, is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting training for youth and adults in the progressive realization of its goals and objectives. YES Mexico works to make available training and development of abilities to create and grow a business, self employed or get a job under the new work culture. Fundacion E promote the competitiveness of entrepreneurs through training and represents the evolution of the alliance between Master Training (Mexico) and Making Cents (Washington, USA). It is the new Mexico national partner of the BID Network (Netherlands). Since 1999, Fundacion E is an active member of the World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs and Sustainability – YES.

Current Major Initiatives :

  • YES Mexico is focused at the process towards RTW. Foundation E is responsible to organize the YES regional meetings in Latin America. In agreement with YES Inc and the Tallberg Fundation two important events will be held in Mexico (2009) and Chile (2010).
  • In September 2009 Mexico will be developing the International Summit of Entrepreneurs 2009 together with the Secretary of Economy of the Mexican Government. In these events the Latin American Process towards YES 2010 will be part of the framework and green iniatives shared as part of the process.
  • Fundacion E is supporting YES Chile in organizing the III YES Latin American Forum that will take place in April 2010. Fundacion E representatives have been travelling constantly to Chile in regards to this issue meeting with key leaders and personalities of the Chilean society to make this Forum a success. The Forum is the last regional activity in Latin America towards YES Sweden 2010. More information in http://www.fundacione.org
  • YES Mexico is also working on the YES Fund, learning from the experience Fundacion E has in Mexico in the incubation of youth entrepreneurship iniatives in other countries in the region. YES Fund was also launched in the YES Panama Forum where Fundacion E supported them with technical advice

Key Accomplishments :

  • YES Mexico organized the II World Summit on Employment Youth 2004 in Veracruz, with an attendance of 6000 participants from 105 countries.
  • In January 2007 Fundacion E became headquarters for YES in Latin America.
  • YES Mexico is considered as one of the best networks of YES due to its active participation and capacity in the promotion of the youth entrepreneurship.
  • It has been able to collaborate with other YES Leaders from Honduras and Panama in the development of programs focused to promote entrepreneurship culture in the youth. A Program was developed in these countries and in Costa Rica with the Foundation Levi's. More than 2000 young people were benefited.
  • Developed facilitators that promote the methodology of Entrepreneurship in Uruguay, Chile, and Panama, where YES Mexico shares better practices and programs in parallel with YES Latin America.
  • Currently Fundacion E promotes the activities of the YES Campaign through its web site. Information in Spanish about the last Summits and the YES 2010 is being shared there.
