Vision : Improve the quality life of the Nicaraguan young people by promoting social entrepreneurship for sustainaible development.

Background : Of its population of 5,5 millions of inhabitants more than 72% people are younger than 30 years and 22.2% of them are among 15 and 24 years of age (51% male, 48.7% women). The main problem of the young people is access to a decent work . 15-24 year-old people represent 27% of the labor force (half men and half women), 44% of the people are unemployed and are young between 15 and 24 years.

About the Network : The YES host Agency in Nicaragua is the Association Opcion Nicaragua, an institution that works on promoting youth entrepreneurship In the last few years this host agency has focused its work on designing methodologies of business incubation, vocational training and techniques for personal development. The agency has strengthened relations among the Ministry of Work of Nicaragua and other organizations that have access to the business community. Strategic alliances are in place with a number of universities, with the Nicaraguan Network of Promotion of Entrepreneurships.

Current Major Initiatives :

• An Action Plan for the Integration of the Nicaraguan Youth 2005 – 2015 was developed together with other key stakeholders of the country.
• Completed – ‘Start your Business’ Training of 5 members of YES Network and training leaders on Businesses Incubation.
• Organized the First National Congress of Foment of Entrepreneurs to develop mechanisms, institutions and organizations that finance and support entrepreneurship in which about 400 young people were involved. In the past YES Nicaragua also co organized the National Conest Haz Realidad tu Negocio.

Key Accomplishments :

• Successful consolidation of the Network for the Promotion of the Entrepreneurship Challenges.
• YES Nicaragua has developed the Metodology of Elaboration of Business Plans (ON INCUBA).
• YES Nicaragua launched in YES Panama Forum the YES FELLOWS Pilot Program-Youth Social Entrepreneurship together with the Agrarian University of this country. Currenlty YES Nicaragua is working in fundraising and networking with key stakeholders relating it with the RTW process.
