Vision : Promoting the concept of 2 million green jobs in Egypt to enhance youth development and mitigate climate change vulnerabilities. Promoting issues related to women’s rights and issues, focusing on engaging youth in the development initiatives of the country.

Background : Egypt is passing through the phase of a population explosion and a tremendous increase in unemployment. There is under utilization of the countries’ resources such as labor, land, capital which has endangered the well being of the citizens. The youth of Egypt are most severely affected by the unemployment problem. The highest unemployment rate is found among the young graduates in Egypt.

About the Network : The Egypt Network was registered in 2003 in the name of, Sustainable Development Association (SDA), as a non-profit organization, subsequent to Egypt hosting the first global youth employment summit in 2002, organized by the YES Inc in partnership with the government of Egypt and Bibliothica Alexandrina. YES Egypt is a coalition of like minded stakeholders interested in youth employment and entrepreneurship promotion, comprising Youth NGOs, private sector, international organi zations and governments and other civil society organizations.

Current Major Initiatives:

  • The Egyptian Youth Entrepreneurship Forum - Following up with more than 21 NGOs in Egypt to strengthen the YES Network and empower it with the actual participation of the private sector.
  • Preparing for the YES (Alexandria) Summit in 2012 by working together with YES HQ to achieve the goal of creating two million jobs for youth all over the world.
  • Guaranteeing our sustainability through our TARABOT (linkage) program that could help in developing youth capacities and sustainability of the NGO resources.
  • A rural development pilot project has been star ted in the Delta of Egypt with one of the network members.
  • Sailing the Nile campaign included going to schools and universities to promote our goals and we were charged with in Alexandria as other partners who work in the rest of Egypt's governorates.
  • Organized the global entrepreneurship week and set a target to create a new initiative with 22 NGOs participating during the week. The Network is planning a major Egyptian Youth Employment Conference in Jan 2010. The YES network will be part of this, assisting the new initiative to build its capacity, raise funds while preparing for Sweden.

Key Accomplishments :

  • It's clearly apparent to us that the entire events that the YES Network has undertaken has resulted in a wide spread reputation about our cause, which ultimately lead in doubling of the number of our volunteers and our network members.
  • For public health, one of our new partners got involved in creating collaboration amongst medical and pharmaceutical departments in universities. They have agreed to develop mutual programs to focus on engaging youth.
